Rising Stars at the 2018 ACE Warmblood Assessment!

Our annual ACE (Australian Continental Equestrian Group) Warmblood Assessment and Kentaur Australia Open Day on 11 February brought us a nice balmy 32 degree summer day. Sixteen horses were presented on the day, and eight ribbons were awarded (50%). This year, more than previous years, we saw a large number of foals, which indicated that breeders are recognising the importance of the assessment and/or are keen to take their horses out early in life.

The first horse to receive a Premium mark (0.5% off Elite) by assessor Gerd Kuest was our own home bred ET foal Kentaur Panama Beach (Palm Beach/Kentaur Valencia (By Vivant)). Tall, correct colt now sold to capable hands of Katelyn Prendiville.

Poema Belita owned by Liz Fluerty and bred by Evie Jarvis and Rick Dabner from team Equistar was the next to receive a silver ribbon. The filly is by their stallion Noblewood Park Barcelona out of a Highfield Vivadi mare.

Two fillies presented by Dobson Equestrian were also awarded Premium status. The first filly, again by Palm Beach (Pico Bello/Indoctro VDL) out of an Animate mare, and the second filly by Concorde Ego Z (Calvaro Z/Carthago Z) out of Noblewood Park Cashmere (Noblewood Park Cougar/ Noblewood Park Claudia).

Tegan Lush’s event bred mare (out of a full sister to her successful 2* horse) and by Yalambi’s Cassini Rosso (Stolzenberg/ Cassini II) showed maturity beyond her years and bought home another Premium status.

Impressive imported Quarterback mare hit the Elite status for her owner Amy Rowen from Kristabella Park.

Another home bred 3 year old, Noblewood Park Clue (Noblewood Park Calibre/ Noblewood Park Chanel) convincingly earned an Elite status in his free jump for his owner Michelle Carberry from Bullsbrook.

To finish, Lauren Abbott’s Ivy (also bred by Equistar) earned a Premium status in her free jump and showed maturity beyond her years in the free jumping arena. Ivy is by Noblewood Park Dynamite Bay (Cassall/Landos) out of a Contango II mare.

All horses were well presented and again Gerd’s commentary was interesting and educational. The future is looking bright for warmblood breeders here in Western Australia! All in all, it was a great day of horses, sun and shopping!
